Getting ready for Christmas...

The tree is up but I am severely lacking in the decorating part and the tree topper needs to go! I am trying to do a woodland critters christmas on the tree and pooh bear just isnt making the cut. I just love the mushrooms though. Reminds me of the fabric I use. Oh.. and last weekend I went to my sister-in-laws house and we got all crafty and had homemade treats and champagne-pomegranate cocktails, so yummy! I took some stockings I sewed up and I printed on them. I cant believe its just two weeks away from today! I need to get some shopping done.

Japanese Covered Button Bookmark Clips

This is my latest handmade item at Smashing Threads. I think these are going to make wonderful gifts for the holidays. They are affordable, adorable, and more than anything have more than one use! These little bookmark clips are great for organizing papers, marking your spot in your favorite magazine or book, kids can use them at school for their reading assignments and homework, awesome gifts for teachers, holding your coupons for the store, and so many more! They measure 4 inches long and are very sturdy! The button on the end measures 1 1/8 inches around. I can do these in any fabric that you see in my shop.

Smashing Threads is now available at Spruce!

I'm so super excited! I met with store owner and interior designer, Selena McAdams of Spruce in east Memphis today. Just so you know... this shop is amazing. I absolutely fell in love with it! Selena came across my booth at the Cooper Young Festival last weekend. After our meeting today, Spruce now carries Smashing Threads items! You should definitely check this shop out if you are in the area.

Cooper Young Festival

All my sleepless nights finally paid off yesterday at the Cooper Young Festival. This was my biggest festival I have participated in thus far. I was so worried about the rain that might or might not happen, but other than the wind that would occasionally lift my tent off the ground and the sweltering heat that was burning into my very fair skin... it was a huge success for me aka Smashing Threads. I was very taken back by all the comments I received. Most of all my sales are done online so you don't really get to hear what people have to say other than the short feedback they might leave. Not letting it get to my head, I was told that I had one of the best booths there this year. I not only had people come and visit once, but more than several came back two or more times trying to decide what item they just couldn't live without. This experience has definitely given me what I need to continue with my work and pursue my career designing. I am also meeting with someone later this week that would like to start carrying my items in her store! So I am very excited. I will have to post some pics soon of the festival. Unfortunately as I whipped out my camera to take some shots I must have forgot to charge my battery. So thankfully Bethany had her awesome iphone there to take some pics. I just want to thank my brother, Josh as well for my Banner design. It looked so amazing.

Well sad to say.. this wasn't an Airedale puppy, but I can see that this is going to do me more good than a puppy would for right now. So I have lost 55 lbs now.. with more to go. Maybe this will help me get there!

48 lbs!!

Ok.. Just an update. I went in today for a checkup this morning and now since March I have lost 48 lbs. Almost 50! Woot Woot. I have been slowing down lately so it seems a little discouraging. I have also been a bit under the weather and haven't felt good the whole week. I just hope I get some energy back soon so I can return to the gym and get back to my normal routine. I don't want to go back to any old habits.

German Vintage 4-tier Christmas Pyramid Carousel

This is an amazing piece that has been sitting in my parents garage forever! I finally asked if I could have it this weekend. I was doing some research on these and found them very interesting. These were started over 300 years ago in Erzgebirge Germany. I am not sure when this particular one was made but it seems to be very old. It is a bit dusty! It is going to take some time to clean this one up. I don't want to break anything.

40 lbs. lighter...

I finally hit the 40 lb. mark. It's about time! Since March I have been really watching what I eat and since April I have been working out almost every day. It seems to be coming off so slow right now. I've actually lost more then 40 lbs since I had Lennon. It's quite awful to think that when I had him.. I weighed 80 more lbs than I do right now. I should really do some before and after photos when I hit my goal.

The Book Eater

While I was busy sewing yesterday, it got awfully quiet in the little ones room. I walked out to give a look and it was so cute. He was relaxing, kicking back contemplating on which book to look at. In the end, I think he decided it was best to just eat em.

Carried away with Painting..

I think its safe to say that I have picked the wrong color! I thought it was so cute in the Pottery Barn mag. Now that the room is finished, I don't know what to think. Its so bright and so blue! Baltimore sky that is.

I added some cute little birdies just above the couch. What I really need is a tree to go right in the middle, maybe. I dunno. Might just make it look worse. Any suggestions?? Or should I just start all over?

Last week I was driving home and spotted an awesome table and four chairs by the street. They were in perfect condition. All they needed was a fresh coat of paint! Still working on the chairs. I don't understand why people just get rid of things. Everything can be redone! I think this project came out better than the living room.

All this painting has left little time for sewing and crafting. I have got to get busy!

My Very First Blog Entry

Okay. This is my first blog entry... ever! I am not sure what I should write about so who knows what will end up here.

Today, I am happy. I weighed myself and have now lost 30 lbs. This is just totally amazing to me. I am actually doing it. I don't know where I have gotten the strength to keep this up. I have tried diets over the years and have never been able to do it for more than 2 weeks. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks. There have been days I feel like I just want to stop but I can't. I can't give up.

I have been trying to keep myself busy. I seem to be constantly cleaning something lately. I found a table and chairs on the street last Sunday.. and today I refinished them. Sanded, painted, and looking all cute. Then I began painting the living room. I am not sure about the color though. I was looking through the new Pottery Barn mag the other day and it looked good in there. ha ha. I painted part of the wall and hope it dries a little darker. I will have to take some pics once it is finished.
